THE STALLION

Color, dark as a night sky with no moon,
Mane and tail of the finest silk,
Catching on the swift northern breeze.
Satin body,
Flamboyant red nostrils flared,
Eyes, balls of flame.
Ears whisk back and forth,
Searching for hidden dangers.
Muscles coordinate perfectly,
As hooves strike the ground in cadence.
He gallops…
The ground trembles
And closely behind,
Flowing like a river’s strong current,
Gallop his followers.
